Sourdough Attempt

sour-dough.jpg

At first, I thought my attempt to make sourdough was going to be fruitless.  I let the dough rise for a few hours and nothing was rising.

My husband brought the dough back to life by mixing some yeast and warm water in a bowl, adding a little flour, and then needing the mixture with the non-risen sourdough.  He let it rise for about an hour, kneaded it alittle more, and then let it rise for one more hour on the baking pan.

I never expected it to turn out so great!  It was sooooo good!!

Starter is Done

starterdone.jpg

According to the website, the starter is done when it is this bubbly and smells sour- check and check!  It took me alot less time than I thought for the starter to be done.  I only fed it once!!

Now I am on to proofing! I added one cup of flour, one cup warm water and now I must leave it out for the night.  I am planning on making the bread tomorrow, otherwise when the starter is done you put it in the fridge. Can’t wait to see how this turns out!

Sourdough Starter

starter.jpg

After my recent success with raisin bread it was only natural that I ride off on my high horse and attempt to make another one of my favorite breads-sourdough!

Basically, its just one cup flour and one cup warm water, you mix it(not with a metal utensil, or in a metal bowl) and then the starter has to ferment for a few days.  It has to be fed every 24 hours and kept in a warm place, get the details here

Cut Cut Cut

cuts1.jpg

I have almost done all my prep work for this quilt.  In the beginning, I was going to have every square perfectly cut, but after the 3rd one things got a little messy… I think not having squares stepford wife perfect will give the quilt a more cozy, homey look-right?! Or am I just delusional? ;))))

At least with having my own pattern, I have room for intentional errors.
